Saudi Environment Week 2026 Sparks National Movement for Environmental Preservation

Riyadh: With the launch of Saudi Environment Week 2026, all regions of the Kingdom are witnessing a comprehensive national movement, as environmental protection and preservation have become a societal culture, reflected in record-high environmental awareness levels exceeding 84%.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this reflects a fundamental shift in societal behavior toward a commitment to sound practices and positive conduct, including rationalizing consumption, reducing pollution, and actively participating in tree-planting campaigns.

The Kingdom has successfully rehabilitated its first one million hectares of degraded land and planted over 159 million trees, marking a significant step toward its 2030 targets of planting 215 million trees and rehabilitating 2.5 million hectares under the Saudi Green Initiative.

These achievements extend beyond vegetation cover to include wildlife conservation efforts, such as the reintroduction of more than 10,000 endangered species into their natural habitats, the expansion of protected wildlife reserves to 18.1% of the Kingdom's total land area, and the increase in the number of national parks to 500.

Saudi Environment Week 2026 continues the Kingdom's efforts to create a sustainable environmental impact by raising community awareness, protecting natural resources, and empowering individuals to participate in field activities actively.
