Riyadh: The Saudi Export Development Authority (Saudi Exports), in collaboration with the Heritage Commission, has unveiled the "Saudi Craft" sub-brand, derived from the "Saudi Made" national identity. This initiative was launched during the Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan), which is organized under the patronage of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this launch aims to support and empower Saudi handicrafts, highlighting their economic and cultural significance, and strengthening their presence in both local and global markets. The initiative aligns with the ongoing integration between industry and culture ecosystems to foster national creative industries. This move is in accordance with the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Handicrafts, aiming to empower artisans, expand market reach for their products, boost the national economy, and reinforce Saudi cultural identity.
The authority emphasized that the Saudi Craft identity is a crucial component in supporting the national industrial identity. It seeks to document Saudi handicrafts and promote them as national products characterized by creativity, authenticity, and quality under the Saudi Made identity umbrella.
Furthermore, the new identity reflects a commitment to building an integrated system for promoting Saudi handicrafts both locally and internationally. This effort is in cooperation with the Heritage Commission, which plays a vital role in preserving handicraft heritage and empowering practitioners through training and qualification programs, while also raising public awareness of the sector as a key pillar of the Kingdom's intangible cultural heritage.
