Saudi Film Confex 2025 Highlights Investment, Intellectual Property, and AI in Film Industry

Riyadh: The Saudi Film Confex 2025 continued its activities with the participation of filmmakers and creative talent from inside and outside the Kingdom, providing an interactive space that combines creativity and knowledge. The program addresses topics in investment, intellectual property (IP), and artificial intelligence (AI), with more than 60 speakers and trainers through 30 specialized sessions and workshops.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Film Commission CEO Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani affirmed that the progress witnessed in the Kingdom's film industry is a result of Saudi Vision 2030 and its broad horizons, which have contributed to building an attractive cinematic environment through cooperation between Saudi talent and local and international partners. He noted that the confex embodies the Kingdom's commitment to developing an integrated film industry that brings together talent, investors, and partners from around the world, positioning it as a leading hub for film production in the Middle East.

The Cultural Development Fund is participating through an informative pavilion that welcomes entrepreneurs and investors and introduces the fund's programs and investment opportunities. It also offers advisory sessions to guide professionals in the film sector, support project growth, and strengthen entrepreneurial capabilities. Panel discussions on the main stage review ways to make the film industry more economically attractive to investment, while a 'Film Talks' session features entrepreneurs who have benefited from the fund. The accompanying exhibition showcases five distinguished projects by entrepreneurs, highlighting the diversity of ideas and production quality.

During the confex, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property launched the Intellectual Property Guide for the Film Sector to enhance practitioners' awareness of IP rights, promote a culture of creativity, preserve intellectual capital, and support sustainability within the national film industry while protecting a fair and encouraging competitive environment. The guide targets creative professionals in the film industry, including photographers, designers, screenwriters, directors, production managers, performers, and audio producers, and covers IP fields in the sector, protection mechanisms, and methods for addressing related infringements and disputes.
