Saudi Film Confex Day Two: Focus on Archives, Co-Production, and AI in Film Industry Development

Riyadh: The Saudi Film Confex, currently being held in Riyadh under the theme "A Gathering That Transforms the Scene," enriched the activities of its second day. The event, which also featured workshops and various activities, brought together a select group of experts, decision-makers, and creatives in the film sector to discuss ways to develop the industry and showcase local and international experiences in various fields.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the second day's sessions commenced with a discussion on the pivotal role of individual and institutional archives in preserving cultural history and documenting the Saudi cinematic landscape, reviewing the experiences of various entities in building the visual memory of local cinema. Subsequent sessions highlighted the diverse environments across the Kingdom's regions and their role in empowering the film industry, alongside a review of emerging initiatives and advanced experiences in attracting international productions.

Further discussions addressed co-production mechanisms between local and international institutions and stressed the importance of film education in building national competencies through specialized educational programs. Sessions also reviewed the experiences of Saudi creatives who have transitioned from initial attempts to building professional production systems and international partnerships.

Other key topics covered included film distribution strategies and diversified screening channels to maintain box office revenues amid the shift to modern platforms. Leaders from various countries also convened to discuss cooperation paths, exchange experiences, and coordinate incentives to accelerate joint productions.

The second day concluded with a session that addressed how modern technologies have contributed to raising production quality, reducing time and costs, and facilitating access to highly professional post-production tools.
