Saudi Legal Symposium in the United States Commences

Riyadh: The Saudi Law Student Association at Washington University in St. Louis (SLSA - WashU Law) organized on Sunday the 'Saudi Legal Symposium in the United States' virtually.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the symposium featured the participation of Cultural Attach© at the Saudi Embassy in the United States, Acting Attach© in Canada and Supervisor for South American Countries Tahany Aleisa, alongside academics, researchers, and law students from several American and Saudi universities, to discuss contemporary legal issues and empower Saudi talent in international legal environments.

The symposium's program included parallel academic sessions across two tracks, discussing topics such as the interpretation of laws and non-retroactivity, competition law and market dynamics in comparative systems, frameworks for freedom of opinion and expression and digital transformations, and applications of artificial intelligence in supporting and regulating litigation. Also covered were user privacy protection, environmental licensing and its impact on investment in coastal tourism projects, and the expansion of the legal market between the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Additional topics addressed included combating harassment, international liability for aviation accidents, the working patterns of commercial courts with modern legislation, and combating organ trafficking.

The symposium aims to strengthen legal dialogue, highlight research relevant to emerging challenges, and build professional and knowledge networks that support the pathways of Saudi students and researchers in the United States.
