Riyadh: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) implemented a training program for 27 trainees from various engineering and scientific disciplines belonging to 11 Saudi universities. The program aimed to develop their skills in deep-tech fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, virtual and augmented reality, internet of things (IoT), and 3D printing. According to Saudi Press Agency, over an eight-week program, trainees completed specialized projects supervised by an elite team of researchers and experts. These projects, which reflected future trends, included a virtual reality bike, remote-controlled robotic arms, a navigation system for autonomous vehicles, an automated sign-language translator, and smart systems using generative AI to assist people with disabilities. The initiative is part of KACST's commitment to supporting young national talents and preparing them to engage in advanced research environments. It aims to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and the labo r market while enhancing their capabilities in fields that serve as pillars of the digital economy. This aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the national aspirations for research, development, and innovation towards building a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation.
