Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources concludes official visit to Australia

Sydney, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef concluded a five-day official visit to Australia, during which he met with several Australian government officials, investors, and senior private sector representatives, in addition to participating in the International Mining and Resources Conference + EXPO (IMARC) held in Sydney from 2-4 November 2022.

The Minister was accompanied during the visit by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs, Eng. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, the CEO of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program, Eng. Suliman Almazroua, the CEO of the National Center for Industrial Development, Dr. AbdulRahman Al-Qirtas, and the CEO of the Geological Survey, Eng. Abdullah Al-Shamrani, in addition to several government officials.

During the visit, the Minister met with Australian Governor of New South Wales Margaret Beazley, Minister for Resources Madeleine King, and CEO of the Australian Trade and Investment Authority (Austrade) Xavier Simonet, in addition to a meeting with Australian corporate officials organized by the Trademark Group of Companies. The minister also had a meeting with the CEO of the Australian Stock Exchange, Blair Peyton, during which the two sides discussed the working mechanism at the Australian Stock Exchange.

Al-Khorayef also visited the University of Sydney and met with its Vice-President, Dr. Shane Griffin, who briefed him on the university's main programs and facilities, and what it offers to Saudi students to facilitate their study journey.

The minister held a meeting with Saudi students on scholarships in Australia, during which he reiterated that the Kingdom counts on the country's citizens in making the future, as the Kingdom, through scholarship programs, aims to arm the students with capabilities that enable them to compete globally in all fields.

The Saudi delegation’s visit focused largely on the industrial and mining sectors, to attract qualitative investments to the Kingdom, and discuss areas of cooperation and investment opportunities between the two countries, to promote the growth and development of the two sectors, benefit from successful international experiences and exchange expertise with Australia.
