Saudi Permanent Representative to ICAO Elected Chair of Technical Cooperation Committee

Montreal: The Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has elected Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the ICAO Council, Eng. Mohammed bin Sami Habib, as Chair of the Technical Cooperation Committee (TCC) for a one-year term. This election took place during the council's first meeting of its 236th session held in Montreal, Canada.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this selection reaffirms the Kingdom's influential role within ICAO and its strategic position in the global civil aviation and air transport industry. It highlights the council's confidence in Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to assist member states in enhancing their compliance with international civil aviation standards, ensuring the sector's safety, security, and sustainability. This decision also underscores international trust in Saudi expertise and professional capabilities.

The ICAO Council serves as the organization's permanent executive body, consisting of 36 elected member states serving three-year terms. The council is responsible for establishing general policies, managing budgets, and making decisions between General Assembly sessions.

Among its key committees is the TCC, which plays a crucial role by advising the council on technical cooperation policies, capacity-building initiatives, and training programs.
