Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture launched 'Saudi Pomegranate Week' yesterday across local retail markets to promote local pomegranate varieties, as well as highlight their nutritional value, support farmers, enhance marketing efficiency, and boost economic returns, all in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi pomegranates are a promising crop cultivated in several regions of the Kingdom, covering an area of approximately 2,000 hectares. Annual production reaches around 37,000 tons, with more than 1.4 million pomegranate trees planted nationwide. The pomegranate season begins in June and continues through December, with cultivation concentrated in Al-Baha, Aseer, Makkah, Madinah, and Tabuk.
