Madinah: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) celebrated World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2026 today under the slogan "United in Humanity," emphasizing the vital humanitarian role of volunteers and field workers who support communities during crises and embodying the values of solidarity and selfless giving.
According to Saudi Press Agency, volunteer work remains a primary pillar of the authority's operational strategy. The SRCA currently boasts more than 328,000 men and women volunteers, among whom over 103,000 new volunteers joined within a single year, contributing a total of more than 2.5 million volunteer hours. Furthermore, more than 2.1 million people have benefited from the authority's awareness and first aid training programs.
In terms of operational excellence, SRCA ambulance teams respond to more than 1.4 million calls. The authority reported a 24% success rate in restoring pulses for cardiac arrest cases, with 45.4% of all cases treated within the critical first eight minutes. These figures reflect the high efficiency of the response teams and their speed in reaching emergency situations.
The authority continues to enhance its community impact by providing 716 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in public spaces and granting emergency compliance certificates to over 300 entities. These volunteering efforts have generated an economic return exceeding SAR149 million.
SRCA President Dr. Jalal Alowaisi indicated that this year's slogan, "United in Humanity," reflects the essence of humanitarian work based on integration to serve mankind. He emphasized the authority's commitment to the continuous development of ambulance and volunteer services in accordance with the highest international standards.
