Riyadh:The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is advancing the future of quantum computing in Saudi Arabia through a combination of theoretical education and practical training.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SDAIA has focused on building national capabilities in quantum computing to align with global technological advancements. Through its academy, SDAIA has implemented various programs, boot camps, and training courses to develop national talent. In 2026, over 70 specialists were trained in the fundamentals and applications of quantum computing, exploring opportunities for integration with data and artificial intelligence and assessing the challenges and feasibility of adopting the technology.
A notable initiative was the Quantum Computing Boot Camp launched in collaboration with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, aimed at equipping specialists in computer science and related disciplines with modern tools and understanding of quantum computing.
The academy also addressed strategic dimensions of quantum technologies through the Strategic Transformation Toward Quantum Technologies program held on April 14, 2026. This program covered aspects such as quantum communication, cryptography, and sensing, and their potential impact on critical infrastructure.
Further efforts include a boot camp on September 13, 2026, focusing on advanced applications of quantum computing and its integration with generative and agentic artificial intelligence. This training explored applications in optimization, decision-making, cybersecurity, financial services, and logistics, and offered practical laboratories and projects using quantum simulators and platforms.
SDAIA Academy's initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance national capabilities in emerging technologies, supporting Saudi Vision 2030's goals of developing human capital and fostering a knowledge-based economy.
