Six Teams and 100 Players Kick Off Al-Jouf Cricket Championship

The Al-Jouf Cricket Championship, organized by the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Sport branch in the region, has kicked off in the city of Sakaka. Director of the Ministry of Sport branch in the Al-Jouf region Mureih Al-Mureih said that the SACF responded positively to the branch's proposal to hold this championship, demonstrating a keen interest in players from various communities within the local population. This initiative was launched after observing the significant interest in cricket among many citizens. Al-Mureih confirmed that the championship will continue until the end of September and will be evaluated afterward to determine if it should be held monthly. He added that the current championship features six teams with over 100 players, and the number of teams is expected to increase. He also noted the participation of some local players who are keen to establish local teams, aiming to bring them under the umbrella of sports clubs or the SAC F directly. Source: Saudi Press Agency
