SRCA in Madinah Intensifies Emergency Medical Services on Hijrah Road During Pilgrims’ Journey to Makkah

Madinah: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Madinah Region has intensified field efforts during the movement of pilgrims from Madinah to Makkah via Hijrah Road as part of its operational plan for the 1447 AH Hajj season. The efforts also come within comprehensive preparations to secure the emergency medical corridor along the route, which experiences heavy traffic during the pilgrimage period.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Director General of the SRCA branch in Madinah, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani, explained that the operational plan begins at Miqat Dhu Al-Hulayfah Mosque, one of the main assembly and departure points for pilgrims.

Emergency medical services have been reinforced through the deployment of 16 ambulance units, including 14 field teams, two rapid-response units, and three specialized vehicles-Uhud, Sanad, and Tuwaiq. The units are staffed by 60 paramedics working around the clock to enhance response times and improve the efficiency of handling emergency cases.

Field coverage along Hijrah Road is distributed across 11 ambulance dispatch points, including seven fixed points operating around the clock and three additional support points activated during peak periods to meet increased demand.

Al-Zahrani also affirmed the full readiness of the air ambulance service to support crowd-management operations, transport critical cases, and provide advanced emergency care when necessary. He noted that the authority has mobilized all human and technical capabilities to ensure the continuity of ambulance services along the entire route, contributing to enhanced health and safety for pilgrims and improving emergency response efficiency during their journey to the holy sites.
