Storm Boris Toll Rises to 22 in Central, Eastern Europe

The death toll from flooding caused by Storm Boris in central Europe reached 22 on Tuesday, according to local authorities that announced three new victims in Poland and one in Austria. High winds and heavy rain have hit parts of Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia since last week. Polish authorities announced yesterday that they found three new victims due to the storm, bringing the official death toll in that country to 7, as floods continue to flow, leaving behind devastated towns and villages. In Austria, local authorities found the body of a fifth storm victim in her flooded home, noting that the waters have isolated 26 villages.
