Riyadh: The Saudi Water Authority (SWA), through its research arm, the Water Technologies Innovation Institute and Research Advancements (WTIIRA), signed a research cooperation agreement with China's Shenzhen Water and Environment Group. The agreement aims to enhance scientific collaboration and exchange expertise in advanced water technologies and innovative water management solutions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement focuses on developing smart and sustainable solutions that contribute to improving water quality and treatment efficiency. Areas of cooperation include developing sensors and smart systems for automated water quality monitoring, establishing advanced smart laboratories for water analysis, and developing wastewater treatment technologies. It also includes plans to establish a joint research center at the Rabigh Water Oasis to develop innovative solutions supporting water resource sustainability.
The agreement reflects the authority's commitment to strengthening the role of research and development within the water sector and empowering the institute to build international scientific partnerships that facilitate knowledge transfer and the localization of modern technologies in support of the Kingdom's water sustainability goals.
