Taif’s Architectural Evolution: Heritage Remains Intact.

Taif: Taif's architectural journey mirrors its historical development. Beginning with humble clay and stone structures, the city's buildings evolved to incorporate more durable materials like iron and concrete. This shift, influenced by globalization and changing needs, led to a surge in urban development. According to Saudi Press Agency, traditional Taif architecture, characterized by its distinctive balconies, colored glass, and Riyadh stone facades, remains a significant part of the city's identity. In an interview with SPA, architect Saleh Al-Mutairi highlighted the harmonious blend of past and present in Taif's buildings. The city's palaces, both historical and modern, exemplify this architectural fusion, showcasing intricate stonework, wooden sculptures, and lush landscaping. "The introduction of Riyadh stone, a symbol of sophistication and distinction in the region, further elevated Taif's architectural landscape," Al-Mutairi said. This material, combined with traditional Hijazi architecture, created a unique aesthetic that continues to captivate, he added. The city's strategic location and pleasant climate have attracted families seeking summer retreats, stimulating economic growth and shaping its architectural evolution.
