Thunderstorms and Flash Floods Expected in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh:Moderate to heavy thunderstorms, which may lead to flash floods and are expected to be accompanied by hail and gusty, dust-stirring winds, are forecasted for the regions of Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Madinah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, fog might form over parts of these regions, including the coastal areas of the Eastern Region. Light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds are anticipated over Al-Jouf, Hail, and Northern Borders regions, as well as the northern parts of Qassim and Eastern regions.

Wind patterns over the Red Sea will vary, with northwesterly to northerly winds at speeds of 20-45 km/h, and southeasterly to northeasterly winds at 10-50 km/h. Sea conditions will range from calm to choppy, with waves between half a meter to over two meters.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will initially be northerly to northwesterly, shifting to southeasterly and southerly in the evening at speeds of 10-36 km/h. In the afternoon, winds will change to easterly and northeasterly at speeds of 10-35 km/h. Waves are expected to be between half a meter to one and a half meters, with relatively calm sea conditions.
