TURKISH MEDIATION BETWEEN AL-BURHAN AND DAGALO

The "Sudan Tribune" newspaper quoted a high-ranking diplomatic official as saying that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an offer to the warring military leaders in Sudan to negotiate in Turkey, according to "Russia Today" news agency. According to the newspaper, the diplomatic official said that the Turkish president "conveyed to the commander of the armed forces, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, in two phone calls during the past two days, Turkey's desire to mediate between them to end the war." The newspaper pointed out, quoting the source, that "Erdogan made an offer to host in Ankara to engage in direct negotiations, while providing all guarantees to the Rapid Support Commander, and Burhan stated the possibility of sitting with Dagalo in the event that the latter accepted the return of the situation to what it was before last December, which is the date on which the Rapid Support commander resumed deployment of his forces in Khartoum and other cities. Clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces have been going on for 10 days, at a time when several countries, including Turkey, have evacuated their nationals from Sudan.
