UN General Assembly Approves Palestinian Participation Resolution

New york: The United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution today addressing the participation of the Palestinian delegation in high-level meetings scheduled for the upcoming week.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the resolution was adopted with a majority of 145 votes in favor, five against, and six abstentions. It allows the State of Palestine to submit a pre-recorded statement from its president to be broadcast in the General Assembly Hall during the general debate. Additionally, the Palestinian delegation may deliver statements via video or pre-recording at the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

The resolution also expressed regret over the United States' decision to deny or cancel visas for representatives of the State of Palestine before the eightieth session of the General Assembly, which prevented them from attending UN meetings in person.
