The UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE) stands as a significant initiative by Saudi Arabia aimed at enhancing education quality throughout Arab countries. Established in 2014, the RCQE serves as a hub for expertise, aiding in the development of education policies and practices while fostering cooperation with regional and international entities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the center has benefitted from substantial government support, evident in royal approvals for its establishment and sustainability. This includes the renewal of its agreement with UNESCO and the allocation of a strategic location in Jubail Industrial City, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's commitment to education and its regional and international influence.
Director General of the RCQE, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mudaires, emphasized the Kingdom's support as Saudi Arabia celebrates 80 years of membership with UNESCO. This support has been instrumental in establishing the RCQE and promoting its mission as a specialized center for education quality and excellence.
The RCQE has made significant contributions in various strategic areas. These include the development of the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education, programs aimed at anticipating future educational needs, improving teaching quality, and developing educational indicators and a regional data observatory. The center also supports lifelong learning, green education, and education quality during crises and emergencies.
