Riyadh: Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih today received Regional Director of World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean Region Dr. Hanan Balkhy, as part of her official visit to the Kingdom from January 13 to 14. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Health and WHO and continuing high-level dialogue on shared health priorities at the regional and international levels.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting discussed follow-up on the strategic dialogue between the Kingdom and WHO for 2024, in addition to opportunities to expand cooperation across several areas, including international and regional health priorities and building resilient and sustainable health systems based on effective international partnerships. This contributes to enhancing the quality of health services provided to beneficiaries, in line with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under the Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a 'vibrant society' and support a 'thriving economy.'

This comes in support of achieving the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Health in expanding the base of health investment and enhancing the Kingdom's active participation in the global health field. It also highlights the Kingdom's position as a leading international partner in the health sector and its leadership role in shaping international health policies, localizing the pharmaceutical industry, and transferring technology, in a manner that supports the readiness and sustainability of the health ecosystem.
