Riyadh: As part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership in equestrianism and equine health, the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center) has launched a series of strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the equine industry, promoting animal health, and enhancing the sector's sustainability.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a key effort is the establishment of an equine veterinary council, which encompasses specialized entities focused on equine health in the Kingdom. The council aims to improve equine health, optimize the use of veterinary products, and enhance biosecurity across equine-related facilities.
It also addresses health challenges by developing appropriate solutions, including disease prevention measures and improvements to the overall quality of veterinary services for horses.
These initiatives are part of broader national efforts to develop the equine industry as a vital pillar of the agricultural economy and reflect the Kingdom's cultural values linked to its national heritage and prominent role in equestrian sports both regionally and globally.
