Crete: Around 8,000 people have been evacuated from the Greek island of Crete after a wildfire, fueled by strong winds, threatened a coastal resort area, Rethymno Deputy Governor Maria Lioni said on Thursday. The blaze, which erupted on Wednesday, has claimed the lives of two firefighters.
According to Saudi Press Agency, an orange alert was issued for several regions, including Crete, Athens, the eastern Peloponnese, and most of the Aegean islands.
