Yemen: Yemen's Southern Transitional Council (STC), including its presidency, supreme executive leadership, general secretariat, and all affiliated bodies, has announced the official dissolution of the council along with all its main and subsidiary agencies and the closure of all its domestic and international offices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the presidency emphasized its commitment to the southern cause and preparations for a comprehensive southern dialogue conference to be held under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The statement noted that the decision to launch military operations in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra had fractured southern unity and strained relations with the Saudi-led coalition, while acknowledging the coalition's significant sacrifices and ongoing political, economic, and military support.
Furthermore, the statement commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its explicit commitment to the southern cause and its efforts to achieve solutions that align with the aspirations and will of the people of the south. The STC presidency called on all influential southern figures and leaders to participate in the upcoming comprehensive dialogue.
This statement followed a meeting of the council's leadership and affiliated bodies to assess the recent unfortunate events in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra. According to Saba, the dissolution comes after the rejection of efforts to de-escalate the situation, which resulted in serious and painful repercussions.
