ZATCA at Jeddah Islamic Port Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle over 3.6 Million Captagon Pills

Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3,633,978 Captagon pills, which were found hidden in a shipment arriving in the Kingdom through the port. The authority pointed out that the shipment, labelled "iron equipment," arrived at the port. When it underwent customs procedures and inspection through security technologies and live detection methods, this quantity of pills was found hidden within the shipment. After seizing the items, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items within the Kingdom. Two individuals were arrested. ZATCA stressed its ongoing efforts to tighten customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, standing firm against smuggling attempts. This is in line with one of the key pillars of ZATCA's strategy, which aims to enhance the security and protection of society by curbing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other prohibited items. The authority urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting it via the dedicated security reports number 1910, the email: 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 00966114208417. The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law in complete confidentiality. It offers a financial reward to the informant if the report's information is accurate. Source: Saudi Press Agency
