4th Edition of Saudi Green Initiative Forum to Commence Tomorrow in Riyadh.

Riyadh: The fourth edition of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum, with the theme "Action is in our nature," will start tomorrow in the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) Green Zone, Riyadh. According to Saudi Press Agency, the forum, which will run for two days from December 3-4, will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and environmental and climate experts from various countries to discuss solutions to pressing environmental challenges. This year's SGI forum aims to facilitate discussions and propose solutions to critical issues such as land rehabilitation, reducing carbon emissions through innovations, financing green transitions for sustainable livelihoods, the role of natural solutions in climate change adaptation, and the importance of preserving the Kingdom's biodiversity. The SGI gallery will be open to the public during the COP16 Riyadh conference. It will showcase the Kingdom's efforts in emission reduction, afforestati on, and environmental protection through interactive displays. The gallery will offer insights into the Kingdom's initiatives, which include goals like cutting carbon emissions by 278 million tons annually by 2030, planting 10 billion trees for afforestation, and protecting 30% of land and marine areas in the Kingdom. Additionally, the gallery will host discussion sessions with global experts to explore the latest trends and innovations in climate and sustainability, paving the way for a more sustainable future. The Saudi Green Initiative, launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in 2021, aims to engage all segments of society in climate action and fulfill the Kingdom's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. This initiative underscores the Kingdom's efforts to address climate challenges like rising temperatures, reduced rainfall, sandstorms, and desertification, all of which aim to enhance quality of life and foster a sustainable future for future generations.
