Al-Alaqah Shrub in Jazan Highlights Rich Plant Diversity, Enhances Natural Beauty

Jazan: Jazan Region hosts a diverse plant wealth shaped by its varied natural environments, making it home to numerous wild plants of environmental and pastoral value. This has contributed to the formation of a diverse vegetation cover across its governorates, reflecting the region's geographic and climatic diversity, which has supported the sustainability of its natural resources and the abundance of its environmental elements.

According to Saudi Press Agency, 'Al-Alaqah' shrub, found in Jazan's natural environment and scientifically known as Dipterygium glaucum, stands out as it thrives in the region's warm climate and open soils, providing suitable conditions for its spread and growth. This has made it a key component of vegetation cover in several natural locations, particularly in open and semi-arid environments.

The shrub blooms during spring or after rainfall, producing small yellow flowers that appear at intervals along its branches. Each flower consists of four delicate petals. It is also considered a nectar-rich plant that attracts bees seeking its nectar and pollen, enhancing its environmental and agricultural value, stimulating bee activity, and supporting natural honey production.
