Taif: Taif Governorate is home to a rich architectural heritage, reflected in historical buildings that have shaped the region's way of life across generations. Among the most prominent of these landmarks is Beit Shocair, located in the heart of the central market area. The house remains a distinguished symbol of heritage identity, combining architectural simplicity with deep historical significance. Covering approximately 110 square meters, the structure consists of a basement, ground floor, mezzanine, two upper floors, and a rooftop terrace.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the restoration of Beit Shocair preserved its original identity, dimensions, and architectural character while emphasizing its artistic elements, including carvings, wooden detailing, and structural features that showcase the craftsmanship of its builders. Restoration work was carried out using traditional methods, including tamarisk wood roofing and epoxy-insulated limestone slab flooring, with the exception of the stone entrance. A roof covering was added in harmony with the building's architectural style. The house was also equipped with 12 air-conditioning units and internal and external surveillance systems.
Beit Shocair represents part of the broader transformation led by the Heritage Commission to rehabilitate historical palaces and houses across the Kingdom. Through specialized restoration programs, these initiatives aim to preserve architectural heritage, highlight its cultural significance, and ensure its development in a manner that aligns with national identity while supporting cultural and tourism progress.
