Makkah: The Makkah Health Cluster conducted a field survey targeting pilgrims with diabetes during this year's Hajj season, as part of its efforts to enhance prevention and early detection of diabetic foot complications.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Makkah Health Cluster explained that the medical team used infrared thermal camera technology to monitor vital signs associated with ischemia or inflammation in the foot, which contributes to early therapeutic intervention and limits the development of complications. It added that the team worked to raise awareness among pilgrims classified as high-risk groups by providing individual medical consultations, in addition to distributing preventive gifts that contribute to reducing the chances of developing foot problems associated with diabetes.
It is noteworthy that the field survey is part of a package of preventive initiatives using technology and artificial intelligence implemented by the Makkah Health Cluster to ensure a healthy and safe Hajj that meets the needs of the Guests of God in accordance with the highest public health standards.
