Hira General Hospital Successfully Performs Emergency Surgery to Save Algerian Pilgrim

Makkah: Hira General Hospital, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, successfully saved the life of an Algerian female pilgrim after she was admitted to the emergency department with acute intestinal obstruction causing severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, requiring immediate surgical intervention under the hospital's rapid-response pathway for critical cases.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the hospital stated that medical teams responded promptly upon the pilgrim's arrival, conducting urgent clinical assessments, diagnostic tests, and initial treatment. Examinations revealed a right-sided Spigelian hernia requiring emergency exploratory abdominal surgery.

The nearly three-hour procedure was carried out through coordinated efforts among surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, and nursing teams. The operation was successfully completed, preserving intestinal integrity and including the placement of a surgical mesh.

Hira General Hospital confirmed that the pilgrim is currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary follow-up care, reflecting the hospital's high level of readiness and the efficiency of its healthcare services in delivering quality medical care to pilgrims in line with the highest medical and humanitarian standards.
