Makkah: The Holy Makkah Municipality finalized all its field work in Arafat, significantly enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring an integrated service environment to accommodate the anticipated high traffic density in the crucial Hajj pilgrimage site.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the comprehensive work undertaken by the municipality's service centers included preparing roads, upgrading lighting networks, maintaining public facilities, intensifying cleaning and environmental sanitation efforts, and combating disease vectors. The measures aim to guarantee a healthy and safe environment for pilgrims. To achieve this, Arafat was divided into three main, geographically distributed service centers, facilitating the efficient deployment of workers and equipment to cover the entire area. This was in addition to organizing Muzdalifah, which also was segmented into three zones.
The municipality is relying on light equipment, such as small dump trucks and handcarts, specifically designed to navigate crowded conditions and cramped locations. It minimized the use of heavy machinery, which could impede movement or slow down task execution, especially during peak periods.
To further enhance waste collection efficiency, ground storage and compaction bins are being strategically utilized. The bins serve as flexible temporary storage solutions, allowing waste to be collected at multiple, nearby locations without disrupting equipment movement or disturbing pedestrians.
