Riyadh: The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), during its participation in Environment Week 2026, presented a comprehensive overview of its efforts to protect the environment and enhance sustainability within industrial cities through qualitative initiatives that reflect a clear commitment to green transformation and reducing industrial pollution.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in the circular economy domain, MODON highlighted its efforts to improve production and consumption efficiency through material reuse and emissions reduction, having conducted 800 field visits to factories across three targeted regions, contributing to boosting industrial sustainability and minimizing waste.
The authority also reviewed its afforestation efforts under the green cities initiative, which aims to increase vegetation cover within industrial cities. Green spaces have reached three million square meters, marking a 50% increase, while two million trees have been planted, achieving a 100% increase, supporting emissions reduction and improving quality of life.
MODON also highlighted its smart city efforts through drone monitoring of environmental violations and air quality measurements, as well as the deployment of smart sensors to monitor emissions and enhance industrial environmental management.
