Najran Region Gears Up for Coffee Harvest Amid Cultivation Boom

Najran:Coffee farmers in Najran Region and its governorates are gearing up for the harvest season, which coincides with International Coffee Day. This period highlights the cultural significance of Saudi coffee and its rich agricultural heritage.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the region is witnessing significant growth in local coffee cultivation. Official statistics reveal that Najran is becoming a key area for coffee production in Saudi Arabia, boasting approximately 100,000 coffee trees. Of these, over 30,000 are fruit-bearing trees that yield more than 15 tons of pure coffee.

Murih Al-Shahrani, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Najran, stated that the branch is implementing development initiatives to support the farmers. These initiatives include supplying high-quality seedlings, organic fertilizers tailored to Najran's soil, and water-saving irrigation systems aimed at improving production efficiency. Additionally, training workshops on global best practices in coffee cultivation, harvesting, and drying are being conducted.
