Passports Directorate Urges Citizens to Safeguard Passports and Check Validity Before Traveling Abroad

Riyadh: The General Directorate of Passports has advised citizens intending to travel outside the Kingdom to ensure their passports are well-protected both domestically and internationally. This includes preventing damage or loss and avoiding neglect, pledging, or misuse. The directorate stressed the importance of keeping passports in secure locations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, it is crucial for travelers to ensure their passports have a validity of at least three months prior to departure for Arab countries and six months for other destinations. The directorate clarified that the digital national ID available through Absher and Tawakkalna, or the family register, does not permit international travel.

The directorate also informed citizens that they must activate their passports electronically after renewal. This can be done by visiting passport departments or branches, or designated offices at international ports, without the need for a prior appointment.
