Jeddah: Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) president Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal has issued a decision to establish a Saudi combat sports federation, appointing Prince Khalid bin Sattam bin Saud as its president. The new federation aims to enhance the development and management of combat sports in the country through strategic partnerships and well-structured programs. According to Saudi Press Agency, the federation's board will include the chief operating officer of SOPC as vice president. Additionally, the presidents of the Saudi Karate Federation, Saudi Wrestling Federation, Saudi Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Saudi Judo Federation, and Saudi Taekwondo Federation will serve as members, ensuring representation from a range of combat sports disciplines. The mandate of the combat sports federation includes building and supporting strategic partnerships to develop combat sports and strengthen their foundations. It will also focus on aligning domestic competition schedules with international tour naments, facilitating participation of local clubs in international events, and funding initiatives aimed at empowering combat sports. Another key responsibility of the federation will be to establish an accredited training system to develop athletes and enhance coaches' capabilities at clubs. The federation will also work to facilitate access to training facilities for federations and clubs, thereby promoting the growth and success of combat sports in Saudi Arabia.
