Muscat: Saudi Arabia chaired the second meeting of the International Dates Council's executive board during its sixth session today in Muscat, with Oman, Tunisia, and Palestine participating as members. The meeting focused on reviewing various reports and addressing member state contributions to ensure the council's financial sustainability.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the executive board examined the council's 2025-2026 annual report, the 2026 semi-annual financial report, and the 2025 financial statements. The discussions also included a United Nations report on date specifications and the international standard for dates, with board members working on technical matters to prepare recommendations for a relevant UN committee.
The meeting's agenda covered a proposal to organize the council's specialized committees by updating membership, defining nomination criteria, and outlining operational mechanisms. Additionally, the board welcomed Libya and Morocco as new members, addressed the appointment of an independent auditor to review accounts, and conducted elections for new executive board members.
