Saudi Arabia Competes in 2026 Asian Physics Olympiad in Republic of Korea

Busan: The Saudi Physics Team is participating in the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO 2026), which is being hosted in Busan, Republic of Korea, from May 17 to 25. This prestigious competition features more than 200 students from approximately 25 countries, showcasing their skills and knowledge in the field of physics.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia is represented by a team of eight high school students. These students have been meticulously trained under the guidance of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. This participation is part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, which aims to nurture and develop young talents in the scientific domain.

The Asian Physics Olympiad, first launched in Indonesia in 1999, is an annual competition that attracts participation from most Asian countries, along with guest participants from outside the continent. Saudi Arabia has been participating in this esteemed event since 2012, demonstrating its commitment to fostering scientific education and excellence among its youth.
