Saudi Arabia Engages in Global AI Dialogue at Paris Meeting

Paris: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), participated for the first time as a member of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) during its fifth meeting. The event, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), took place in Paris from June 9 to 11, drawing member states, experts, and AI policymakers from across the globe.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia was represented by Rehab Alarfaj, the General Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Indices at SDAIA. Alarfaj engaged in numerous sessions and discussions focused on AI governance, the implementation of the OECD AI Principles, and the future endeavors of the GPAI.

In her discussions, Alarfaj emphasized the need for developing practical tools to convert AI principles into applicable, real-world solutions. She highlighted the significance of accommodating differences in national priorities and institutional maturity levels among various countries while maintaining globally consistent yet locally applicable principles.
