Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), took part in the executive committee meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), held virtually today, according to a press release from Nazaha.
According to Saudi Press Agency, President of Nazaha Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous delivered Saudi Arabia's address during the meeting. He expressed gratitude to President of IAACA and Commissioner of Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Danny Woo, for organizing the meeting and the association's efforts to bolster international cooperation in combating corruption.
Al-Kahmous emphasized that Saudi Arabia, through Nazaha, is focused on enhancing international collaborations to combat corruption and promote integrity, which has led to numerous achievements. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to IAACA's role in promoting transparency and facilitating the exchange of expertise and experiences. He expressed hope that Saudi Arabia's involvement with the association would result in the launch of several initiatives, including periodic in-person general meetings of IAACA members in Hong Kong or alongside the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
Additionally, he proposed creating a mechanism to enhance the exchange of expertise among IAACA members in partnership with the GlobE Network, such as organizing joint workshops among members.
In closing, Al-Kahmous invited all members to join the High-Level International Conference on Measuring Corruption, scheduled for December 2 to 4, 2025, in New York, USA. This event is part of the Global Initiative on Measuring Corruption launched by Nazaha in 2021, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
The release noted that the IAACA is an independent, non-political organization with over 180 anti-corruption authorities globally. The association aims to combat corruption, implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption, and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on reducing corruption and bribery by 2030. IAACA facilitates the exchange of expertise and best practices among anti-corruption authorities worldwide, organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs. The association is dedicated to strengthening relationships with international and regional organizations to unify and advance efforts within the global anti-corruption community.
