Sakaka: The Visual Arts Commission has announced an open call for the second cycle of the third edition of the Intermix Residency, to be hosted at JAX District in Diriyah. Previous editions of the residency have welcomed more than 70 participants from around the world. The current edition comprises three residency cycles, each lasting three months and accommodating 15 residents, including visual artists and curators from Saudi Arabia and abroad.
According to Saudi Press Agency, throughout the residency, participants receive full funding and benefit from dedicated studio spaces, mentorship, and professional development programs, workshops, lectures, and field visits. Each cycle concludes with an Open Studio event, during which residents present their projects to the public, cultural institutions, and program partners. The residency also provides fully funded accommodation, production support, and opportunities for artistic experimentation within a collaborative environment that brings together artists, experts, and the wider community.
The program is guided by three key pillars - innovation, transformation, and sustainability - which form the conceptual foundation of the Intermix Residency and inform its curatorial and developmental approach. Intermix aims to strengthen the artist residency ecosystem, foster creative exchange, and support the growth of the contemporary visual arts landscape.
Applications are open until February 5, 2026. Details regarding subsequent cycles will be announced in due course. Applications must be submitted through the commission's digital platform. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and available for the full duration of the residency.
