13th World Urban Forum Kicks Off with Ministerial Meeting in Baku

Baku: The 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), commenced in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event, themed 'Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities,' opened with a high-level ministerial meeting. This meeting was attended by ministers and officials responsible for urban development and housing from countries worldwide.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministerial meeting focused on addressing key challenges associated with urban expansion. Discussions included strategies to develop sustainable housing policies and enhance city resilience. The meeting also explored support for innovation and digital transformation in urban planning, alongside the exchange of international expertise in developing urban communities and improving quality of life.

Saudi Arabia is actively participating in the forum with an official delegation led by Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail. The delegation is highlighting Saudi Arabia's significant achievements and experiences in sustainable urban development, aligning with the targets set by Saudi Vision 2030. The progress made in the housing sector, quality of life, and urban environment development is also being showcased.

At its national pavilion, Saudi Arabia is presenting a variety of national projects and initiatives. These include efforts in housing, real estate investment, digital transformation, and smart municipal services. More than 20 entities from the government, private, and nonprofit sectors are participating in this showcase.

Saudi Arabia's involvement in the forum emphasizes its ongoing active role in supporting international efforts to build more sustainable and innovative cities. The Kingdom is committed to enhancing cooperation and the exchange of expertise in urban development and housing.
