HRC and UN Complete Anti-Torture Training Program in Riyadh

Riyadh: The Human Rights Commission (HRC), in collaboration with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), has successfully concluded a five-day Training of Trainers program on the International Convention against Torture in Riyadh. The program was attended by HRC President Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri and UN Resident Coordinator in Saudi Arabia Mohamed Zarkani.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri emphasized that the initiative aimed to develop national expertise by qualifying employees from various government agencies to lead future training sessions. The program focused on the practical application of international human rights standards, ensuring a sustainable transfer of knowledge and strengthening the institutional capacities of participating entities.

The collaboration is part of a broader memorandum between the HRC and the OHCHR to integrate human rights principles into professional practices. The program emphasized effective methods for preparing and delivering training to raise awareness and support capacity building across the Kingdom's government sectors.
