Makkah: Rapid intervention within the urgent care system, a part of the Saudi healthcare model systems, has successfully saved the life of a Turkish pilgrim suffering from an advanced tumor in the descending colon. A medical team at Al Noor Specialist Hospital, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster, conducted an urgent surgical procedure to alleviate the patient's severe intestinal obstruction.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the emergency department at Al Noor Specialist Hospital received the pilgrim in critical condition. Medical examinations and CT scans revealed that the tumor was connected and attached to the spleen and several adjacent organs, causing complete intestinal obstruction.
The surgical team decided to perform an emergency operation after confirming the presence of the advanced tumor. They performed an anastomosis in the transverse colon to bypass the obstruction. The procedure lasted about an hour and a half, resulting in the patient's full recovery. She left the hospital the following day in stable health, attributing her recovery to the rapid response and skill of the medical team.
The Makkah Health Cluster stated that this success is part of ongoing efforts to provide advanced healthcare to pilgrims and visitors, utilizing the latest technologies and a team of qualified medical professionals.
